Booking your ticket for a boat party?

Before we jump into the most common mistakes, one of the best ways to make sure you have an amazing time is knowing what to expect ahead of time — from what’s included to how the day typically runs.

Once you’ve picked your destination, what could possibly go wrong?

Hopefully nothing! But it’s worth being aware of a few common mistakes so you can avoid them and focus on enjoying the music, the atmosphere and the experience.

Before your captain drops anchor, read this guide so nothing sinks your vibe..

Common mistakes to avoid on a boat party

1. Turning up late

Boat parties wait for no man (or woman), so miss the boarding time and sadly you’ll miss out!

How to avoid it:

Check your confirmation email for meeting times and aim to arrive at least 30 minutes early – this way, you’ll get a prime spot onboard and remove any of the anxiety of missing the boat! Some of our Ultimate Boat Parties include a pre-party too, so you can be there in good time to get the party started on dry land.

Failing to plan your day is one of the biggest mistakes people make — especially at popular events where boarding times are strict and schedules run tightly.

2. Neglecting the sunscreen

Sunburn is the fastest way to ruin your day on vacay! So, as you set sail on your luxurious trip, this is one big mistake to avoid.

How to avoid it:

Just like you would any day on your holiday, apply SPF before you board your charter, then reapply after your swim stop if your sunscreen isn’t waterproof.

Tip: Try to avoid oils or any super-greasy products, as they can make decks slippery and are banned on some boats for safety reasons.

3. Wearing the wrong footwear

Blisters and twisted ankles are not your friend if you plan to hit the floating dance floor on your boat tour! Steer clear of heels so you can stay safe and dance up a storm.

How to avoid it:

Opt for sliders, Crocs, sandals, or flip flops you can easily slip on and off for your swim stop. Trainers are fine too, but your feet might get a little too toasty!

4. Leaving it too late to book your party boat

Boat parties are super popular, so they do sell out! If you leave it too late, you may be left on the harbour with a serious case of fomo.

How to avoid it:

As soon as you’ve booked your flights and hotels, get your activities sorted to avoid disappointment! Browse all boat party locations and book now.

If you want a clear breakdown of what to expect on the day, including timings, inclusions and how everything flows, you can check out our Magaluf Boat Party guide as an example.

5. Skimming the details

One of the biggest boat renting mistakes?

Assuming your ticket includes things it doesn’t. For example – free drinks, food, or extras.

Some of our boats offer all-inclusive drinks, while others have the option to upgrade to VIP – but the last thing you want is to leave your card at home assuming drinks are included then get caught short.

How to avoid it:

All of our Ultimate Boat Parties clearly list what’s included, so read before you book. Some have open bars, food, shots, after parties, and even free club entry.

6. Choosing the wrong boat (or time)

In popular tourist resorts, there are lots of boats leaving the harbour every day at different times, and with different companies running them. Some of our boats run at various times during the day, so don’t get confused about which time slot you booked.

Make sure you know exactly what you booked so you don’t fall at the final hurdle, and check your boat offers everything you’re looking for so you don’t get jealous of all the fun unfolding on the next vessel!

Another classic misstep is assuming every destination is the same — in reality, different locations attract different crowds and vibes, so understanding what suits your group can make a big difference.

How to avoid it:

Save all the important details on your phone or print them out to get the right time and vessel on the day.

7. Overdoing the booze

There’s nothing worse than being excited for a trip then peaking too soon! We’ve all been there – but let’s make sure it doesn’t happen this time around.

How to avoid it:

Especially if it’s an all-inclusive event, it’s easy to get carried away — pacing yourself will help you enjoy the full experience.

8. Forgetting your ID (or ticket)

No ID = no boarding. And no ticket = BIG problem (even if you’re on the guest list).

How to avoid it:

Bring along photo ID and your e-ticket – make sure you have it saved offline so you can access it even if you have no service.

9. Failing to plan the after party

Sadly, all good boat parties must come to an end… but the fun doesn’t have to!

Don’t be that person scrambling to find a plan while everyone else is sorted.

How to avoid it:

In some destinations, your boat party is just the beginning of a full day and night experience — so planning ahead helps you make the most of it.

P.S. Don’t forget your swim stop!

Don’t forget, most Ultimate Boat Parties include swim stops in dreamy locations like hidden coves and lagunas. Don’t be that passenger who forgot their swimwear and has to watch all the fun from the deck!

Come prepared – captain’s orders!

Choose your boat party destination and let the fun begin!
